Creating and Downloading Clips

This guide walks through making a clip from an audio or video file and downloading it as MP4.

1. Add your file to a project

If you don't have a project yet, see Creating your first project. For the upload steps in detail, see Getting a Transcript.

2. Open the file's transcript

Open the Files tab in the project's left sidebar. Click the file you want to clip from. The right pane shows the player and the transcript.

3. Highlight the transcript span

Select the text you want to capture. The selection toolbar appears above the highlight.

4. Create the clip

Click Clip in the toolbar. A trim dialog opens where you can:

  • Trim the start and end.
  • Add a title.
  • Add tags (creates them on the fly if they don't exist).
  • Write a note for context.

Click Create clip. Clipping starts in the background.

5. Wait for processing

Clip processing takes a few minutes. The corresponding audio/video segment gets cut and rendered.

You can keep working in the project; the clip's status updates in the Clips tab. While it's processing the card shows a Processing label.

6. Download

Once the clip finishes:

  • Open the Clips tab and pick your clip.
  • Click Download to save as MP4 (or Delete to remove it).

The same clip also appears in the Outputs gallery as an artifact.

Alternative: ask the chat agent

You can also ask the chat agent to clip a moment for you: "Save a 30-second clip of the moment in interview 4 where the participant explains the bug." The agent's create_clip tool runs the same flow.
