Engage Overview
Engage is the recruitment and data-collection half of User Evaluation. The Analyze side helps you understand data you already have. Engage gathers data when you don't.
You can launch four kinds of studies:
| Study type | What happens | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| AI-Curated Interview | An AI agent calls each participant over the web, asks adaptive follow-up questions, and gives you a recording plus a transcript. | Discovery interviews, concept testing, prototype feedback. |
| AI-Curated Survey | A chat-style survey with adaptive follow-ups. | Qualitative depth at scale, without scheduling calls. |
| AI-Generated Survey | A fixed-question survey built from your brief. Standard form, lots of responses. | Quick quantitative checks, screener-only studies, broad reach. |
| Live Interview | A scheduled call you host yourself; we handle invites, recording, transcription. | Talking to people directly. |
All four live under Interviews & Surveys in the left navigation. Click New to launch the wizard.
How a study runs
Every study type follows the same shape:
- Describe the research goal in a short brief.
- Pick the audience. Filter the User Evaluation participant pool by demographics and qualifications, or invite your own contacts. See Audience & recruiting.
- Add a screener if you want one. See Screeners.
- Write the script for interviews and curated surveys.
- Set the details: incentive, deadline, max participants, redirect URLs.
- Review and launch.
Once launched, the matcher invites participants automatically. Every completed session lands as a file in the study's project on the Analyze side, where chat, tags, clips, reports, and decks work the same as on any other project data.
Pricing model
Engage runs on a monthly interview budget. Surveys count as ¼ of an interview each, so 1 interview seat covers 4 survey invites. Check your budget in Settings → Plan & Usage, or compare plans on the pricing page.
Pick a study type from the left to dive in. Or read Audience & recruiting first to understand who you can recruit.
